Athens like you have never seen it before
best private guided tour you can ever take anywhere in the world and i have taken many. i had signed up for the Tsipouro tasting tour at the museum of gastronomy and it was truly an adventure to get an incredible guided tour around Plaka. Jannis is an incredibly well read and knowledgeable person that has passion for his city and its history. Natalie was very sweet and sent me home with a small bottle of my favorite Tsipouro.. every time i go to Athens it will be either a guide tour, taste tour, cooking tour or any other tour
Culinary delight
We were met at our hotel and whisked away for a food tour. We sampled many delicacies and were introduced to authentic Greek Cuisine. Highlight was definitely the fresh market. Since it was a private tour, we learnt so much of the history and present day life of Greece from our knowledgeable and friendly guide, Yannis. It was the highlight of our stay. Strongly recommend this to anyone.
Athens Insiders is terrific
We used them summer of 2014 and were totally smitten. One tour was an Athens "food tour." He took us to markets, a tripe soup place, various hidden gems -- and explained the food. Another was a tour focused on politics and youth culture (a request of ours). The tour guides were intelligent, friendly, very attuned to our interests. Also great ideas for what we should do on our own and where should we eat. We 100% recommend them.

Just completed a tour withYannis at Athens Insiders at Aleria restaurant my newly wedded wife. My experience deserves a positive review. Just completed a four course wine pairing dinner. Menu customized to meet our demands. Involved an In-depth elaboration of entrees personally selected to represent Athens Cuisine. Our evening was filled with comfort, laughter, enjoyment, history of Athens food, cultural ingredients, and cutting cutting-edge food. Our tour encompassed a one on one tour showcasing the various restaurants of athens; stopping off by common bar for fine champagne; and enduring an eloaborate fine Culinary experience. A time we will never forget. Aleria restaurant is a hiden gem deserving of recognition from individuals serious about food. Yannis and Aleria staff delivered the world' s best customer service and athens experience.
The true Insiders of Athens
we are glad we did, as this has been the highlight of our Athens stay. we had a morning food tour. We went through streets and places we would never visit on our own, that had a lively and real vibe Our guide was super fun and covering a great range of content from culinary traditions to culture, politics and everyday life of Greece. This is an excellent tour to understand the place you are at and the people. The amount of food offered is huge and enough to replace breakfast and lunch! I highly recommend it.
Athens food tour
This 4 hours food tour in the streets of Athens was the highlight of our vacations in Greece. George our chef/guide was so passionate about Greek gastronomy, he is also a new friend. This food tour exceeded our expectations, in our last stop of the tour, we had the chance to have some cold cuts accompanied by the local spirit raki and make a thorough conversation about the current financial situation of Greece. At that point we realized that George apart from being a chef, he could tell us everything about the current political and financial situation of Greece, which was very much appreciated. Definitely recommend Athens Insiders, their guides are very well educated and professional.
Great food tour
I booked a private tour with Athens Insiders. I am very interested in Greek gastronomy, since the Mediterranean diet is very famous in Georgia. The whole experience exceeded my expectations. We had so many tastings and our guide Giannis was very knowledgeable and he was able to answer to the most difficult questions. A definitely must do for all the people who like good guide.
Food tour throughout Athens
My wife and I were on our honeymoon and had an amazing experience. We did a food tour in Athens (unfortunately don't remember our tour guide's name) and walked through the markets. Our guide showed us all the local cuisines and was very knowledgeable with all the food as he was a private chef. He also knew a lot about the history of the city.
We had a fantastic culinary tour of Plaka, with Chef Georges!
The Flavors of Athens food tour with George was excellent. We got to taste pastries, Greek coffee, visit the market and taste more cheese and prosciutto-like delicacies. But we also understood how it all this food was prepared, the history of the shops as well as the cultural background. I have been many times to Athens and I learned much more than on any previous trip. A great thank you to George (Yorgos).

This is an exceptionally good tour. George clearly knows all the good spots and can talk very knowledgeably, since he used to work as a chef. His English is fluent and he managed to cover politics, history, food and just about anything else you are keen to know about. We sampled souvlaki, doughnuts, Greek coffee, baklava with mastic ice-cream, nuts and Greek savoury pies. I recommend you have a very light breakfast. We also visited the meat and fish markets where George showed us the freshest of ingredients. What was perhaps more surprising was how well he was able to engage with my young children (six and nine). [...]''
Athens Insiders Tours - Flavors of Athens with George - Exceptional!
Chef George took three on a four hour walking tour of Athens. It was exceptional in every way! By way of background, George was a private chef for several years so well versed in Greek cuisine and culture. Friendly, articulate and fluent in English, George led us through the streets of Athens as we visited restaurants, pastry shops, local meat and fish markets and spice galleries. All along the way he treated us to samples of Greece's wonderful cuisine with detailed explanations on ingredients and preparations. George added thoughtful historical details of the city and its surroundings along the way. We had an exceptional afternoon and highly recommend George and his Athens Insider Flavor of Athens tour.

We decided to do the "food tour" and that was with chef George. I can honestly say I was not prepared for this surprise. I actually got a guide with a few common interests. Urban street art,music,style,hobbies and clearly food. He has a very educational back ground but is also a very fun and light hearted guide. He made it interesting. We made our stops,tried multiple "traditional" delights,and even got introduced to work of certain artists. Even took his time to help us as we walked through the market to negotiate an item at the market [...]''

Both of our guides were able to answer any questions we had, whether it was about history, politics, the economy, food, or culture. Our food tour guide, George, led us through not only a rich gustatory journey but also interspersed historical, cultural, and political insights (don't get him started on the Greek soccer scene!) that kept our attention for the entire 5-6 hours. We did this as a private tour with just 4 of us and it was excellent! George was our guide, and he has multiple university degrees, plus he is a professional chef! His experience in fine dining and as a private chef really showed with his knowledge of the fresh meat and seafood markets where he showed is some excellent tips on how to make sure your purchasing fresh food as well he knows everyone! He is very passionate about the food and many other things which makes him an excellent guide. [...]''
Food tour
We did a food tour of Athens with George and it was fantastic. Lasted about 5-6 hours and it was such a fun variety of foods that were able to enjoy in multiple settings. Everything from snacks, meals, treats, oils, seafood. Absolutely loved it and would recommend without hesitation.

Not only did George guide us through the most amazing food tour with savory delicacies and local favorites of his, he also educated us on great tips on selecting olive oils, best places for food, sweets, etc. but also great cooking tips since he was a chef and came in handy since my husband loves to cook. Better than we expected and had the best guide!

We loved the tour and Ilektra was awesome.
Everyone says skip Athens that except the acropolis it’s a nothing city. Well this was a wonderful way to spend 4 hours. Great walk great talk and great food. Ilektra was a great guide knew so much history and even though it was 98 degrees it was a comfortable tour. Diverse great food and so many insights
