"My wife and had an excellent food tour from a passionate Chef George. We were excited to learn so much about olive oils, honey, fruit and vegetable preserves, deli meats etc. George helped us do shopping for unique Greek gifts for our adult children. My wife who is a very experienced cook and baker had great discussions with George who helped us acquire specialty spices and herbs. We really enjoyed his enthusiasm and knowledge."
Acropolis and Flavors of Athens Tours: Book it!
We went on Acropolis Architectural tour with Alexandra and the Flavors of Athens tour with Yorgos. Both them are very knowledgeable of their subjects. We learned a great deal about the Acropolis itself and it's surrounding area, as well as other historical sights. Yorgos took us to some fabulous places that had some delightful treats. I am glad we did not eat breakfast because it was plenty of food on the tour, and everything was delicious. You get to taste a bit of everything (i.e. olives, cheeses, Kelbasa, cured meats, desserts, etc).
Both Alexandra and Yorgos were very friendly, entertaining and accommodating.
We loved Geroge!
My wife and I did a private food tour. It was incredible! It was the highlight of our time in Athens. Our tour guide was George. He did a phenomenal job! George's passion and knowledge of Greek gastronomy was inspirational and so enjoyable. Beyond learning about and getting to try some of Athens tastiest foods, George taught us so much about the history and culture of the city. He even went out of his way and made a special stop for us so that we could find a hard straightener that would work in european outlets. I would highly recommend this tour. It was an excellent way to see the city and to try some of the best traditional greek foods.
Family Food Tour of Athens
We had a wonderful day touring Athens with Panos. He was knowledgeable about the food, culture, and history of Athens. He took us to a variety of great food spots in Athens based on our interests and taste - markets, coffee shops. quick bites, and restaurants. Also, the best gelato in the city! It was one of our highlights of our trip to Greece. We highly recommend this trip with Athens Insiders.
Interesting, historical and delicious!
I took the acropolis and food tour which is 8 people maximum. First we went to the Acropolis with a guide, which was very interesting because the guide knew a lot and was enthusiastic about it. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to look around the Acropolis. Then the food tour continued, which was an absolute highlight! The guide was open-minded and told lots of "inside" information about local food and the culture of Greece. You could try a lot and in the end you were definitely full. It was a beautiful day that felt like spending it with friends and it was educational too.
Magnificent discovery of Greek gastronomy
Thank you to Yannis for this "immersion" and discovery of culinary traditions while strolling in Athens at our pace. Our teens were more than delighted! An exciting and rewarding tour, a great time for all (and thank you for the good addresses ...) Sandra, David and our teenagers ...
