In the company of your knowledgeable state-licensed “Insider” guide, your tour will start with a guided tour
of the ancient Agora of Athens, where the social interactions between the locals gave birth to the various
philosophical schools. Stoicism, Cynicism, and Epicureanism were all born here, the very location frequented
by the likes of Plato, Aristotle and Socrates, as well as many other intellectual giants.
After you have visited the ancient center of philosophical thought, familiarizing yourselves with the teachings
and concepts that still govern our lives, morals, and way of thinking, you will enjoy a drive to reach the Archaeological Site of the Lyceum of Aristotle. Once there you enjoy a 1-hour guided tour. Founded by Aristotle in 335 BC., and also known as Aristotle’s Peripatetic School, was believed to be a place where Aristotle liked to stroll through the school’s tree filled groves discussing philosophy and teaching rhetoric and mathematics to its students.
Your journey will end with a visit to the very place where Plato taught and Aristotle’s studied, at the
Academy of Plato. “Academy” and “academic” come from the name of the area where Plato taught back in
338 BC, when Plato founded his philosophical school here, considered as the first ‘university’ of the Western
world.
